NBA Mock Draft 2012, Updated

 1

Anthony Davis, C:  Kentucky  6'10" 220 lbs

Anthony Davis is the consensus number 1 pick in this years draft. With his length, motor, shot blocking, quickness, and mid-range jump shot, Davis looks to be a future star in the NBA. Now if only we can get him to shave that worm off his forehead. Until then I expect "Fear the Brow" merchandise to be everywhere in the Big Easy.

Thomas Robinson, PF: Kansas  6'10" 240 lbs

The Bobcats are in dire need for a player at any position on the court right now. Thomas Robinson is a very mature and NBA ready player. He is strong on the boards, and also knows how to finish at the rimb. Thomas Robinson will probbly not turn into a star, but he will definitely will be a great piece in Charlotte. The only problemI have with him going this high is the fact that he does not have as high of a ceiling as some players available. None the less he is NBA ready.

3

Bradley Beal, SG: Florida  6'5" 200 lbs

The Washington Wizards are in a major rebuilding mode. Right now what they need is a scorer on the perimiter and Bradley Beal is a great pickup for the Wizards here. He looks to have the highest ceiling of any player other than Anthony Davis, and he is being compared to a young Ray Allen. This man paired with John Wall and Nene in DC could move the Wizards into being a contender for the playoffs.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, SF: Kentucky  6'7" 230 lbs

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is a very solid basketball player. He is very athletic and skilled he just doesn't fit into a specific position. This has caused him to drop a little, but the Cavs have has some success drafting small forward, and this looks to be a can't miss guy. He will add much needed toughnes in the house Lebron built. (I know I'm going to catch heat from Cleveland fans for that one.) None the less Kidd-Gilchrist is a great pickup here and will put up solid numbers in his first year.

Harrison Barnes, SF: North Carolina  6'8" 210 lbs

This is a match made in heaven for both sides. Harrison Barnes would be put in a spot where he can get plenty looks, and the Kings desperately need a SF. Barnes can knock down mid range jumpers, attack the rim, make open 3's, and also grab his fair share of rebounds. Don't expect him to get too many assists, as Barnes doesn't believe in passing too much. He knows two things, catch ball, shoot ball. We will see how that works out in the pros.

Andre Drummond,C: Connecticut  6'11" 270 lbs

Thanks to old man Oden the Blazers are in need of a big man, and Andre Drummond of Connecticut looks like a good fit. Drummond is a shot blocking extraordinaire, but I would like to see him improve his work on the boards. He averaged only 7.7 rebounds this past season, and for an NBA center that isn't  going to cut it. All in all his athleticism and size should be a big help for Portland, lets just hope he can stay healthy.

7

Perry Jones III, F: Baylor  6'11" 235 lbs

This is a player that could go a little higher if he didn't have the Randy Moss Syndrome ( Plays when he feels like it). Jones is very long and athletic with great size. This is one of those players full of potential, but has potential bust written all over him. Since I am optimistic, I say he would fit great with Curry and Klay Thompson to build a nice core in Oakland.  Jones isn't the best defender but in Golden State, who needs defense. That's for the contenders.
Golden State Warriors

8

Jeremy Lamb, SG: Connecticut  6'5" 185 lbs

Jeremy Lamb is a good scorer and can knock down jumpers consistently. He played a major role in Uconn winning the championship in 2011. He lacks court awareness, but is a strong glass eater for a guard. Lamb has good length and can improve as a perimeter defender. Also he will get ample opportunities to show his offensive strengths if he is picked up by Toronto, and he has proven to be good as a number 1 option.
Toronto Raptors

9

John Henson, PF: North Carolina  6'11" 220 lbs

My mouth is watering over the thought of the possible front court duo of John Henson and Greg Monroe. They could anchor the Pistons front court for the next 5-10 years. The Pistons are in need of a scorer, but Henson is hard to pass up at this pick. This young forward is an efficient mid-range shooter and is an excellent shot-blocker and rebounder. Henson has the potential to be a big time player, but he needs a little work on his offensive game in the low-post. All in all, this would be a solid pick for the Pistons.
Detroit Pistons

10

Damian Lillard, PG: Webber State  6'3" 190 lbs

This may be considered a risk pick because Lillardcomesfrom a small school, but make no mistake this is a big time player. Lillard has a long range on his jumper, and attacks the rim relentlesly. He has a knack for getting to the line and was an overall great college scorer. Couple that with his solid defense, good rebounding, and his ability to create for his teammates, and the Hornets would get the only complete point guard in the draft. Lillard was a very efficient and seemingly unstoppable scorer for Webber State, and the Hornets would be getting a steal with him at this spot.

11

Dion Waiters, SG: Syracuse  6'4" 215 lbs

With the Blazers addressing the need at center, I see them looking for a slasher to take some of the load off of Lamarcus Aldridge's back. Dion Waiters is just that. He attacks the lane vigorously, and can finish at the rim. He is also an excellent perimeter defender, and plays with tenacity on both sides of the ball. He probably will not be a big scorer in the NBA, but he will be a positive impact on any team that spends their pick on him.
Portland
Trail Blazers

12

Meyers Leonard, C: Illinois  7'0" 250 lbs

The Rockets are more than likely trading this pick in moves to get Howard. If they do no trade I see them getting Meyers Leonard. Leonard is athletic for his size and very active around the rim  on both side of the ball. He is good at altering shots in the paint, and finishes with skill in the low-post. He also has the ability to pass pout the the post and set up teammates very well for a 7-footer.
Milwaukee Bucks

13

Austin Rivers, G: Duke 6'4" 200 lbs

The Phoenix Suns have a need just about everywhere on their roster. they may not have Steve Nash next year, and a guard would be benifitial at this slot. Austin Rivers has a shot of getting picked up here only if Leonard is not available. Rivers is a solid combo guard that will probably play the 2. One major problem with Rivers is HE CAN'T GO LEFT! If he can work on that and his playmaking ability he can pan out to be a solid guard in the NBA.
Phoenix Suns

14

Tyler Zeller, C: North Carolina 7'0" 250 lbs

Tyler Zeller will need to put on some   weight to make it in the pros, but he is a 7-footer with skill around the rim. The Bucks no longer have a big man after trading Bogut for Ellis, so they have a need at center. Zeller should be able to come in and give productive minutes at the 5 spot. Another player they may end up going with is Terrence Ross out of Washington.
Houston Rockets

These are my predictions for the upcoming NBA draft and are not set in stone. Some of these teams may trade up or down with their picks, and many other variables such as injuries will come into play. I will be updating this mock draft weekly. Give me feedback in the comments on which players you think should go where, or if you think I have it perfect let me know. Remember to share the link and subscribe to this blog, thanks for the support.

Updates: Jared Sullinger drops out of the lottery as Bradley Beal moves up to the number 3 spot. Austin rivers moves up to the 13 slot to the Suns.

  1. I really don't believe in Anthony Davis's skill. He cant score that well in post and he is skin and bones. Hes a BUST
